Borrowing power calculator
How much could you borrow?
Your borrowing power depends on your income, living expenses and existing debts, and every lender assesses it a little differently. Enter a few details for a quick estimate of what you might be able to borrow, then talk to us for an assessment against real lender policies.
What is borrowing power?
Your borrowing power is the figure a lender lands on after running your income, expenses, debts and household size through their own risk model — their view of what you could repay without it being a stretch. That's a different question to what you'd like to spend, or what feels affordable to you day to day.
The catch is there's no single formula. Hand the same payslip to five lenders and you'll often get five different numbers, since each weighs things like overtime, credit limits and living costs differently. That gap is exactly why it pays to check your position across a panel rather than settling for whatever one bank quotes you.

Interest-only loans are assessed as principal & interest over the remaining term, as most lenders do. Each lender's policy differs — this is not an offer of credit.
